Missions Organizations
Since the very beginning of First Baptist Church - Longview, TX in 1874, missions has been an important facet of church life. As early as the 1890's, the church had a very active Ladies' Aid and Missionary Society which raised money in various ways for state, home, and foreign missions. One of the ways the ladies raised money was by piecing quilt and highlighting the names of those who made contributions. As time passed, the Woman's Missionary Union sponsored the Young Women's Auxiliary, Sunbeams for children, Royal Ambassadors for boys, Girl's Auxiliary, Acteens and developed a strong support and love for Buckner Orphans Home.
Many of our members, both young and old, find great joy and fulfillment by participating in Habitat for Humanity, the Mexico Mission Team, the Malawi Mission Team, the Kenya Missions Team, WorldChangers, choir and youth mission trips, partnership and volunteer mission teams to France, Norway, Denmark, Chile, Spain, Argentina, the medical-dental team to the Dominican Republic, and other places.
